Methven Family Vineyards – Dayton, Oregon

Methven Family Vineyards is located on the eastern slope of the Amity Hills in the northern Eola-Amity Hills AVA. The 30 acre planted vineyard was planted in 2002 to Pinot Noir clones Pommard, 777, 667 and Wadensville as well as Chardonnay 76, Riesling and Pinot Gris, all on 3309 rootstock. Nearly half of the Chardonnay was grafted over to Gamay in 2007 when additional plantings of Pinot Noir 115, 114 and 828 were added on the lower reaches.

The Methven vineyard spans an elevation from 250' to 350' with varying soils, including Jory and Woodburn. It is also LIVE certified sustainable and farmed and managed by vineyard manager, Rob Clarke, and winemaker, Chris Lubberstedt.

We are very excited to be sourcing Gamay for the first time in 2011 from the Methven vineyard where Tom also works at the Methven winery as assistant winemaker to Chris. Gamay is a favorite of Tom & Kate's from their days working in the Loire Valley and Beaujolais, France and we are very much looking forward to creating a true "Cru" Beaujolais style expression of the widely popular fruity varietal.
